We were a bit worried today as thunderstorms were predicted. However, the clouds were welcome as it kept the temperatures cooler. Once again, we got off the Eurovelo trail and did some cross country on small roads and found ourselves having to push our bikes up an old railroad bridge crossing. We eventually got back down to the canal and linked back up to the trail. The grape harvest is on here in Languedoc and many of the vineyards are picked by machines. Seems they waste a lot of grapes. Kind of sad for this country boy to see! We saw many boats in the canals and it is very interesting to see the boats go through the locks. The lock system at Beziers is a real marvel! Its old and still works like a charm! We were on narrow dirt trails with tall grass slapping us in the face. Rest, shower and dinner are eagerly anticipated.
